jlsCreative || Graphic and Web Design

Happy Thursday! On Saturday I did a mini session with the new owner of jlsCreative, Jason Smith! He’s ridiculously talented at what he does, is super friendly and professional, and he also happens to be my husband. So of course, he’s awesome. Jason has been doing Graphic Design for many years. He’s made logos, promotional material, designed websites, created entire brands for new business owners, and now, he’s offering web design as well! It’s a natural transition for us, being the creative types, and I’ll be doing photography for the business as well. We’re so excited! Check out his new website!

(yes, co not com)

Mention this blog for a free coffee when you let JLS Creative design and build your amazing new website! ;-}

Hummus || 100 Days of Real Food Adapted Recipe

Girls in white dresses and blue satin sashes? No thanks. My favorite things usually involve food. Sing that tune again but this time use these words:

Hummus and pita chips topped with paprika; real and organic, Holy Eureka!

Lol…. I had fun with that. So anyway, I love to make hummus, because even the best store brands are full of junk, and twice as many calories. I prefer this recipe below, only 35 calories per tablespoon, all Real Food and Organic! It’s adapted from 100 Days of Real Food.

Here’s a link to the original recipe. Below is my version!

Yummy Hummus

1 can of chickpeas (or garbanzo beans, they’re the same!). Rinse them out.

Lemon juice (I don’t measure, but I probably put in about 2 tbs.)

Tahini (about 2 tbs. again)

Garlic (about a 1/2 teaspoon)

1 tbs. of olive oil. Sometimes I use less if I add an ingredient like sun dried tomatoes because it has oil on it already.

A little water to get it to the preferred consistency

Salt, to taste

Put it all in a food processor (save the water and salt till last) until you like the consistency! Super easy. I like to add ingredients like roasted red pepper and basil, sun-dried tomato with basil and green olives, or, make it with black beans instead of chickpeas and add cayenne pepper! Yum!

Graham’s 1st Birthday || Spring Hill Photographer

Graham is One! He’s such a happy baby and we had a really great time! I love when people bring props, and Graham’s mommy brought balloons and a little birthday sign! It added so much color and fun to the session. He was only interested in the strings of course;-)

My Rock Garden || No Small Feat

Last week I had the week off from nannying and got a LOT done. One of those things was spending 11 hours fixing my front yard. Yes, 11 hours. It sucked. I really hate yard work. I’d honestly rather clean the whole inside of my house than do anything outside, but I was sick of the way my front yard looked. Every time I drove up I’d be embarrassed of how trashy it looked. Unfortunately I don’t have a before photo, but this is 4 hours into it:So first I uprooted two very large bushes, one small bush, and two lily plants (which I gave to one of my awesome neighbors), and then weeded the heck out of it. My goal was no more plants. I dug up all the buried bricks, de-weeded and cleaned them, dug up a new trench and put them back in. Last, I cut down our butterfly tree with a saw like a BOSS!Then I sprayed a no-plants chemical all over the place, laid down a no-plants mesh tarp thingy, and then covered the place with 20 bags of rock.Voila, rock garden! No plants of any kind, and even though my garden isn’t gorgeous, at least it’s not trashy! I’m very proud if it, and now hopefully I’ll only have to do the mowing and that’s it. But if those weeds or plants show up again…

Sydney’s Easter Session || Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! I hope you have a wonderful day and make lots of memories with friends and family:-)

Sydney is the sweetest little girl I’ve ever met, and is incredibly easy to photograph! I was so happy to see her again, and we had a blast at our little mini Easter session. She admired the props I brought and was very happy to oblige in my little Easter egg hunt. Enjoy!

I’d be remiss to not mention the real reason for the season. Jesus loves you! All of you, no matter what. He took our sins and our punishment for them and He lives!!! Thank you Jesus for such an amazing gift. I love you!

So beautiful!
