Pinterest Recipes || Fantastic Finds and Flops That Fail

Alright, so I love Pinterest. If you’ve followed my blog for awhile you know that. Also, food. Yum. So good. I love food. Sorry, I lost my train of thought… Anyway, I cook homemade meals four days a week for the lovely family I nanny for, and I find a lot of inspiration on Pinterest boards. I’ve learned, though, that things aren’t always what they seem. Here are two recipes that rocked my socks off and two major disappointments to avoid at all costs.

Crockpot Chicken Fajitas from StacyMakesCents.com (link)                                                                                                                                              Verdict: Fail

So this one looked amazing in the pictures, and I’m a huge sucker for Mexican food. It wasn’t difficult, so that was a bonus, but the author talked this recipe up like crazy (like using words like “tubular”), and it was just a huge letdown. It was bland and boring, and even hot sauce, salt, and sour cream couldn’t fix it up.

Crock Pot Beef and Broccoli my MyFridgeFood.com (link)                                                                                                                                              Verdict: Win!

So basically you just cut up the ingredients and throw them in the pot and let the magic begin. This recipe was phenomenal! It smelled amazing all day, and by the end I wished I had doubled it. The meat did shred up much smaller than in this picture above because it was so tender, but compared to the taste, it was really a non-issue.

Jalapeno Popper Grilled Cheese Sandwich from PunchFork.com (link)                                                                                                                    Verdict: Win!

So this one seems pretty time consuming, but most of the actual work only takes about 20 minutes max. You do have to wait for the jalepenos to cook and to rest, but basically it’s very easy. And good. Did I mention AWESOME?! If you like poppers, eat this!

Pumpkin Pie Cream of Wheat from LunchBoxBunch.com (link)                                                                                                                                      Verdict: Fail

Ah man, I really wanted to like this recipe. Maybe my palate is just not refined enough or something but I was just so disappointed.  I expected a sweet and savory treat, but it was not sweet at all and was just bland. I added honey and brown sugar to spruce it up, but even so, it just didn’t work out for me.
